Cookie Policy

1. Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains, in plain terms, exactly which cookies and similar browser storage technologies CASIVOICE (“we”, “us”, “CASIVOICE”) uses on this website, why we use them, how long they last, and how you can control them.

This is not a generic template. Every item described below reflects what actually runs on this site today. If we ever add a new cookie, storage item, or analytics tool, we will update this page and, where the change is material, ask you to confirm your preferences again before it takes effect.

This page covers cookies, local browser storage, and our consent system. It does not describe how we handle personal information more broadly (for example, information you submit through our contact form or as a subscriber) — that is the subject of our separate Privacy Policy.

2. What are cookies

A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device when you visit it. Cookies let a site remember information about your visit — such as a preference you set — the next time you return, or while you continue browsing.

This policy also covers local storage, a similar but separate browser technology. Unlike a cookie, information saved in local storage stays on your device and is never automatically sent to any server when you load a page; it is only read by the script that wrote it. We rely on local storage, rather than a cookie, to remember your cookie preferences — see Section 6 for why.

3. Why CASIVOICE uses cookies

We use cookies and local storage for three purposes only:

• To make the site work. A small number of strictly necessary cookies support core functions, such as keeping you signed in if you create a CASIVOICE account.
• To remember your cookie choices. So we don’t ask you to make the same decision on every page and every visit.
• To understand how the site is used, if you allow it. Aggregate analytics help us see which articles and sections are read, so we can improve the publication. This category is switched off by default and only runs if you actively opt in.

We do not use cookies for advertising or ad-retargeting, and we do not sell or share cookie data with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

Separately from cookies, our hosting and security provider (Cloudflare) and our publishing platform (Ghost) necessarily process basic connection information — such as your IP address — to deliver and secure the site, in the same way any web server does. This is standard infrastructure operation, not a cookie, and is covered in more detail in our Privacy Policy.

4. Cookie categories

Our cookie preference center offers two categories today:

• Necessary — always active. These support core site functionality and cannot be switched off through our preference center.
• Analytics — off by default. These only run after you actively select “Accept all” or switch Analytics on in Cookie Settings.

We do not currently offer, and this site does not set, any cookies in a Marketing, Advertising, or Personalization category. If we introduce a new category or a new analytics vendor in future, our consent system automatically detects the change and shows the consent banner again to every visitor before anything new is allowed to run — see Section 7.

5. Detailed cookie table

CASIVOICE does not set any first-party tracking or analytics cookie of its own. The rows above marked “Analytics” are all set directly by Google and Yandex, and only once you have accepted the Analytics category. The only cookie writes our own code ever performs are the deletions used to remove these cookies again if you later withdraw consent.

Our Contact page also loads Cloudflare Turnstile, a bot-detection check that runs when you submit the contact form. It is served and operated directly by Cloudflare, our security provider, is necessary to stop automated abuse of the form, and is present only on that page. Any cookies it sets are governed by Cloudflare’s own privacy and cookie practices, not by CASIVOICE.

6. Local storage

Two items are stored in your browser’s local storage. Neither is a cookie, and neither is transmitted automatically with ordinary page requests.

If your browser blocks or clears local storage (for example, in some private-browsing modes), we simply cannot remember your choice, and the cookie banner will appear again on your next visit. Nothing about your experience of the site otherwise changes.

7. Consent management

When you first visit, a banner offers three choices:

• Accept all — switches on the Analytics category. Google Analytics 4 and Yandex Metrica (both loaded through a single Google Tag Manager container) begin running, and the cookies listed in Section 5 may be set.
• Reject all — keeps Analytics off. No analytics cookies are set; if any were already present from an earlier decision, they are deleted immediately and the page reloads to confirm nothing further is running.
• Cookie settings — opens a preference center where you can review and choose each category individually before saving.

Changing your preferences. You can open the same preference center at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the site footer. Saving a new choice takes effect immediately: any category you switch off has its cookies deleted straight away, and the page reloads to make sure nothing you disabled keeps running.

Renewing consent. Your decision is requested again, automatically, whenever we make a material change to the cookie categories or vendors in use, or update this policy in a way that affects what is collected. You do not need to do anything for this to happen — the banner simply reappears the next time you visit.

Consent expiration. Even without any change on our part, we treat a decision as current for 365 days from the date you last confirmed it (whether by accepting, rejecting, or saving preferences). After that period, the banner will appear again so you can confirm your choice remains correct. This does not affect anything already recorded — it only means we ask you again.

Nothing on this site loads any analytics script before you have made a choice. If you never interact with the banner at all, only strictly necessary functionality runs.

8. Consent audit

Separately from the cookie banner itself, CASIVOICE keeps an internal record of the consent decisions made on this site, so that we can demonstrate compliance with our obligations under data protection law if ever asked to do so.

In plain terms:

• Each time you accept, reject, or update your cookie preferences, a record of that decision is created.
• These records are protected against tampering: each one is cryptographically linked to the one recorded immediately before it, so any attempt to alter, insert, or delete a past record without authorization can be detected.
• Records are kept only for a limited period — currently up to approximately 13 months from when they were created — after which they are permanently and automatically deleted.
• These records are never used to track your browsing activity, are not linked to any advertising or analytics identifier, and are not combined with the Google Analytics or Yandex Metrica data described in Section 5.

These records do not contain your name, email address, account details, or any payment information, and they do not contain your raw IP address. They contain only the decision itself, the date it was made, the version of this policy in effect at the time, and a small amount of technical context (such as your browser’s general language setting and country, and a one-way cryptographic derivative of your IP address that cannot be reversed back into an IP address). We use this solely to be able to demonstrate, if required, that a given consent decision was genuinely made and has not been altered afterwards.

9. Legal basis

Under the EU ePrivacy Directive (and the equivalent national laws that implement it, including the UK’s Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations), storing or accessing information on your device — such as a cookie — requires your prior consent, unless that storage is strictly necessary to provide a service you have specifically requested. This is why our Necessary category runs automatically, while every other category defaults to off and only runs after you opt in.

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR, our processing is based on:

• Your consent (Article 6(1)(a)), for Analytics cookies — which you can withdraw at any time with the same ease with which it was given, as described in Section 7; and
• Our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)), for the strictly necessary cookies described above and for maintaining the consent audit record described in Section 8, which exists to let us demonstrate compliance with our own obligation under Article 7(1) GDPR to be able to show that consent was obtained.

10. Your rights

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with similar data protection law, you have the right to:

• Withdraw your consent to non-essential cookies at any time, with no effect on the lawfulness of anything already done before you withdrew it;
• Request access to, correction of, or erasure of personal data we hold about you;
• Restrict or object to certain processing of your personal data; and
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.

You can exercise your cookie choices directly and immediately through the “Cookie settings” link in the footer, without contacting us at all. For any other request, see Section 11.

12. Policy updates

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time — for example, if we add a new analytics tool, change a retention period, or clarify existing language. This page always reflects the version currently in effect (Version 1, effective 13 July 2026).

If a future update materially changes the cookie categories or vendors described above, our consent system will automatically detect that change and ask every visitor to confirm their preferences again, regardless of any earlier decision on file — you do not need to check this page manually for that to happen. We nonetheless encourage you to revisit this page occasionally.
